A Luxury Event at Amanpulo, Pamalican Island in the Philippines

Updated: Mar 26, 2021

On February 27, 2018, local celebrities and influencers have graced one of the best luxury beach resorts in the Philippines for Omega’s launch on the newest Seamaster Aqua Terra timepieces event in Amanpulo, Pamalican Island.

The 3-day event filled the top stories on all the social media platforms and was surely a chic and snazzy event for the books.

Why Palawan?

If you haven’t visited yet, Palawan has won several awards for being the ‘best’ and ‘most beautiful’ island in the world.

Awards include: Condé Nast Traveler Readers as the most beautiful island in the world; National Geographic Traveler magazine as the best island destination in East and Southeast Asia region in 2007, and the 13th best island in the world having “incredibly beautiful natural seascapes and landscapes; and it recently won the traveller’s vote as being the ‘Best Island in the World’ for the second time.

The shores have been featured in famous movies including Bourne Legacy, The Beach (yes, there were some scenes shot in Palawan), and the James Bond film The World is Not Enough.

Palawan is known for its clear blue waters, amazing diving, its caves, rock formations, lagoons and white sand beaches.

Unlike the rest of the Philippines, Palawan is also biogeographically part of Sundaland, with the flora and fauna found similarly to the ones found in Borneo. It is one of the most biodiverse (terrestrial and marine) islands in the Philippines.

The overall experience was one for the books, according to Vito Selma, Furniture Designer who graced the event with his Rayna Peacock chair which was marvelled by the CEO of Omega.

There was a special Gala Night where guests were welcomed into an “enchanted forest” setting decorated with a lot of lights and mirrors. Aside from the Gala Night, the seaside escape hosted by Omega offered many other events which kept the influencers in awe.

What makes Amanpulo a cut above the rest? You may ask. Well, according to Vito, you are treated like a King when you are there.

Each guest has two butlers that assist them during the duration of their stay. Amanpulo staffs are attentive, well-trained and caring and their extreme customer service is what puts them apart from other 5-star luxury resorts in the world.

Aside from the customer service, the food is noteworthy and the resort’s amenities are better than you would imagine it to be.

The island is in the right location, away from all the city bustle, and naturally beautiful. The island is surrounded by crystal clear turquoise waters where you could snorkel or swim with a giant turtle, powdery white soft sand beaches, and butlers who ensure you are well hydrated with your selected choice of drinks.

How to get to Amanpulo

The private airplane boards from Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport where you are greeted by Amanpulo staff at the gate entrance after checking-in.

A car filled with refreshments, some snacks and WiFi, transports the guests to the Amanpulo lounge before boarding the propeller airplane.

Nearing Amanpulo, you will see the grand 2-km long island surrounded by clear turquoise waters. When you land, everything gets taken care of – your welcome drinks, assistance to your Beach Casita or Villa, and a briefing on the activities you can do around the island.

At sunset, they have the Kawayan Bar – a bamboo pontoon in the middle of the sea where you can enjoy a cold drink while watching the sun go down.

Other activities include a world-class spa, tennis courts, bicycles, 30-m lap pool, yoga, gym, a mini-boot camp called “Jungle Run” and boat rides to the island village across the bay.

For a traveller who enjoys the luxurious escape for some “me-time” or intimate time with family or a romantic time with loved ones, Amanpulo is the perfect place for you.

The atmosphere is serene, and guests are always made to feel welcome. The Filipino hospitality is felt just as you enter the airport all the way to when you leave the island, which is mostly due to the service standard on the staff.
