Boracay's white sand beaches and vibrant nightlife are undeniably alluring, but just a short boat ride away lies a hidden gem begging to be explored. Carabao Island, often overlooked by tourists, offers a tranquil escape with pristine beaches, thrilling cliff jumps, and captivating caves.
A Glimpse into the Past:
Legend has it that Carabao Island, originally known as Hambil due to its anvil-like shape, was once home to a secluded group of people who lived in isolation since the time of Christ. In the early 16th century, Spanish explorers arrived and, noticing the abundance of cattle and carabaos, renamed the island "Carabao." Initially a barrio of Looc, Carabao Island eventually gained independence and was established as a separate municipality in 1965.
