The Panglao You Didn’t Know Existed
Most people think a trip to Panglao starts and ends at Alona Beach. While the energy there is great for a night out, the real magic of this island is tucked away down dusty side roads and beneath the surface of the turquoise water.

I spent the day scouting for the spots where you can actually hear the waves instead of the crowds. If you are looking for tranquility, authentic local vibes, and a bit of adventure, this "off the beaten path" itinerary is for you.
1. The Underwater # Freediving Sign
This is a hidden gem for ocean lovers. Tucked away beneath the waves, this underwater sign is the perfect "secret" photo op and a great milestone for anyone practicing their breath-hold. The reef surrounding it is vibrant and far less crowded than the typical snorkel boat stops.

2. Bikini Beach (The Honest Truth)
You’ll see this on a few maps, but here is the hot take: Don't go here. It apparently does not exist. Save your time for the next two stops instead!

3. Biking Beach
If you want to see where the locals actually hang out, this is it. Biking Beach is a much quieter, more laid-back alternative. It’s perfect for a morning swim or just sitting under a palm tree with a book. No loud music, no souvenir hawkers—just pure Panglao peace.

4. The Bee Farm
No trip to this side of the island is complete without a stop here. Whether you’re grabbing their famous organic ice cream or sitting down for a cliffside lunch, the views of the Mindanao Sea are unbeatable. It’s the perfect place to recharge after a morning of exploring.

5. Panglao White Sand Beach
This is the "Grand Finale." If you are looking for that postcard-perfect stretch of white sand but hate the Alona Beach squeeze, this is your spot. It’s wide, pristine, and during the weekdays, you’ll often have huge sections of it all to yourself.
